One manual usually covers every finish of a fan. The Glendale III guide, for example, lists five model numbers from AK338-BN to AK338-WH.
Hampton Bay ceiling fan parts diagram
Each guide has a lettered, pictured list of what’s in the box. This is the Gazebo III’s.
Use the letters
The assembly steps refer to parts by letter, so lay them out and check them off before you start. The Gazebo III guide adds a Service Parts page at the end.
Missing a part? Call customer service before you return the fan to the store.
Fan replacement partsHampton Bay ceiling fan troubleshooting
The three problems Hampton Bay guides cover, with the checks they give.
Fan won’t start
Check the fuses or breakers, then the line and switch wire connections in the switch housing.
Turn the power off at the breaker before you open anything.
Fan not workingFan is noisy
Tighten the motor housing, blade arm and glass screws. Make sure wire nuts aren’t rattling and the canopy isn’t touching the ceiling.
New fans get a 24-hour break-in; most noise fades by then.
Install a ceiling fanFan wobbles
Tighten every blade and blade arm screw, then run the fan for 10 minutes. Still wobbling? Measure each blade tip to the ceiling.
Off by more than 1/8 in.? Ask for new blade brackets.
Balancing stepsOil, balance and care for a Hampton Bay fan
What the Care and Cleaning and Operation pages tell you to do, and not do.
Don’t oil it
Current guides, such as the Gazebo III and Glendale III, say not to oil the fan or motor. The motor runs on permanently lubricated, sealed ball bearings.
The motor has a lifetime warranty for the original buyer.
Customer serviceBalance the blades
Measure from each blade to the same point on the ceiling. If they’re all within 1/8 in. and it still wobbles, call for a free blade balancing kit.
More than 1/8 in. off? Ask for free replacement brackets.
Order a balancing kitClean and tighten
Check the brackets and blade screws twice a year; you don’t need to take the fan down. Dust with a soft brush or lint-free cloth.
Keep water off the motor and wood blades.
Fan partsPull chains and direction
On the Glendale III, one pull is high, two medium, three low and four off. The reverse switch sits on the switch housing.
Summer: counterclockwise. Winter: clockwise. Stop the fan first.
