What size Hampton Bay ceiling fan do you need?
Blade sweep should match the room’s square footage. These figures come from The Home Depot’s own ceiling fan measuring guide.
44 in. fan
Your room: 168 sq ft. 144 to 225 sq ft.
Ceiling under 8 feet? Choose a low-profile hugger fan that sits flush to the ceiling. To measure a five-blade fan, measure from one tip to the center and double it.
Indoor, damp or wet-rated Hampton Bay fans
The rating on the box decides where a fan can hang. A fan hung somewhere it isn’t rated for can rust or fail early.
Indoor
Living rooms, bedrooms and offices that stay dry. If a title doesn’t say outdoor, damp or wet, treat the fan as indoor only.
Examples: Rothley II, Glendale III, Hugger

Covered porches, sunrooms and other spots that get humid but stay out of the rain.

What size Hampton Bay ceiling fan do I need?
Home Depot’s guide puts a 42-inch fan in rooms up to 144 sq ft, a 44-inch fan in rooms of 144 to 225 sq ft and a 52-inch fan in rooms of 225 to 400 sq ft. Use the room calculator above.
Are Hampton Bay ceiling fans good?
They are Home Depot’s value-priced house brand, bought mostly for price and style. Check the rating and the warranty before you buy, and see who makes Hampton Bay for the bigger picture.
Who makes Hampton Bay ceiling fans?
Outside suppliers build them for Home Depot. Federal recall filings name King of Fans for the Mara fan and Youngo Limited for the Halwin fan.
What warranty comes with a Hampton Bay ceiling fan?
On most models the motor is covered for the original buyer’s lifetime and other parts for one year, with glass and acrylic blades excluded. Newer manuals, such as the Glendale III, cover the light kit for three years. You need the receipt, and you pay to remove, ship and reinstall the fan.
Can I hang an indoor Hampton Bay fan on my porch?
No. Covered porches need a damp-rated or covered outdoor fan, and spots that get rain need a wet-rated fan such as the Gazebo III or Barrow Island.
Do Hampton Bay ceiling fans come with lights?
Many do, from glass bowl kits to integrated LED lights. Others ship without one, and some of those accept an add-on light kit. Light kits and bulbs explains which fit.
What is a Hampton Bay hugger or flush mount fan?
A fan that mounts close to the ceiling without a downrod. Home Depot recommends one when the ceiling is under 8 feet.
My Hampton Bay fan is discontinued. Can I still get parts?
Usually. Find the model number on the label on top of the motor housing, then check Hampton Bay ceiling fan parts or call 1-855-HD-HAMPTON.
Which Hampton Bay ceiling fans were recalled?
The Mara 54-inch indoor/outdoor fan in 2020 and the Halwin 52-inch indoor/outdoor fan in 2026, both because blades could come loose. Owners should stop using them and follow the recall steps.
Are there smart Hampton Bay ceiling fans?
