Privacy Notice

What this Hampton Bay guide collects when you visit or write in, and what it doesn’t. The short version: very little, and nothing is sold.

Who this notice covers

This notice covers thehamptonbay.net, an independent guide to Hampton Bay products. It is not The Home Depot’s privacy policy; Home Depot and Amazon have their own.

What is collected when you visit

  • Server logs. Like most websites, the web host and the content delivery network that speeds up the site (Cloudflare) record basic request details such as your IP address, browser type and the page asked for. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small Cloudflare script counts page views and how fast pages load. It sets no cookies and does not follow you to other sites.
  • Google Analytics, added through Google Site Kit. It records which pages are viewed, how you arrived (a search, a link or typed in), your device and browser type, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and how long pages are read. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_*, kept for up to two years. Google handles this data under the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity. It records how pages are used: clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, shown to the site owner as heatmaps and session recordings, with device and browser details. Microsoft says Clarity masks sensitive text, such as what you type into forms, by default. It sets the cookies _clck (one year) and _clsk (one day). Microsoft handles this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • No advertising. The site runs no ads and no ad-tracking tools. If a tool is added or removed, this list changes on the same day.

What is collected when you write in

The contact form saves your name, email address, topic and message in this site’s private admin area and sends them by email so they can be answered. They are used only to reply, and deleted within 12 months.

Links to stores

When you follow a link to homedepot.com or amazon.com, you leave this site. Those stores may set their own cookies, including ones that record that you came from here, under their own privacy policies.

Your choices

You can ask for any message you sent to be deleted, or ask what is held about you, through the contact form.

To stop Google Analytics, use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Analytics and Clarity cookies can also be blocked or cleared in your browser settings; every page works the same without them.

Children

The site is written for adults buying and caring for home products and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

When the tools on this site change, this notice changes with them.
